Avalanche Danger...

Every year Chad goes on the "Mancation".  It is a weekend where Chad and bunch of guys in the ward go snowmobiling.  There is usally about 10 or so that go.  This year there was only four of them going up on Thursday night and 2 other guys heading up Friday night.

Friday the guys headed out to enjoy some great snowmobiling. All was going great until Scott headed up the hill that Phil and Bryce had already rode up and down 3 times as Scott was headed up he hit the top and as he headed down the mountain broke loose and before they knew it they were all riding as fast as they could to get away from the avalanche.  Chad kept looking behind him watching Scott to see where he was.  Soon Scott was headed right for a tree so he jumped just as he jumped Chad lost him as the snow just buried him.  Chad was so scared just yelling The snow slowed down as Chad flipped around and headed back up the mt. To find Scott.  Phil and Bryce right after.  Chad saw a little tip of Scott's helmet and just began digging.  He cleared his face and is yelling at scott ot see if he is alright.  Scott is breathing and says that he thinks his leg is broke.  As Chad continues to dig he clears his right side and his leg is fine.  He begins to dig his left side out and his leg is broke.  Chad yells for phil to go get Search and Rescue so phil heads down to the trail head about a 30 min ride away.  As they wait Chad gets heat packs on him and covers him with his coat and the emergency blanket.  A man showed up on his sled and had a cell phone that had reception so they called 911 .  It took search and rescue and the Life Flight an hour and half to get there.  Then the Life Flight couldn't land except for near the bottom so Chad and search and Rescue and bryce and phil help carry Scott down on  the board.  They got him to the helicopter.
Scott is doing good he has a broken leg in 3 places and has a long recovery ahead of him as well as a broken arm. He is alive though and that is what counts.
Chad is being called a hero by everyone.  He is so uncomfortable with that.  He did what he had to do.  He has been trained in back country Emergency.  Since ran the Four Wheeling Rentals for a few years and done Snowmobile guiding as well.  he was prepared and has saved a few lives during four wheeling accidents and having people life flighted out but he says it is not the same when it is your friend and you are trying to save your life as well.
I am so Thankful and blessed Chad was not hurt and even more thankful that he was there to help.

The lord was definatly protecting our guys this year,  and we acknowledge his hand in all of this.

life's moments....

Preston is in the community play Beauty and the Beast.  He is really enjoying acting and being a part of the play.  I am loving watching him come out of his shell and feel confident.  I can't wait to see the performance and watch him shine.

Karleigh just started dance on Thursday.  She is sooo excited.  I wasn't sure how she was going to do the first time since I couldn't stay to watch but she went right in and joined in.  After I picked her up she said she was a little nervous.  I told her I was so proud of her for being brave even if she was nervous.  I am soo excited for her to start dance.  She will be 5 in Sep. and I didn't know if she was too young to start but I think she will do great!

Colton is going to do soccer this year again.  No baseball (thank goodness) Sorry I just don't enjoy baseball.

Some fun things about Kambria.  She loves the song the wheels on the bus.  But it has to be this "ONE" video done by Baby Einstein that we watch on youtube.  we play it over and over and she dances and sings and yells for everyone to watch.  If she sees your not watching she yells hey, hey,  untill you watch and sing along.  I think it is hilarious.
I took her to the doctor for her ear and the doctor said she has one of those looks that says move it I am going to take over the world.  And oh does she ever.  She is so determined.  She is very curious and always trying to figure out how something works. Her favorite thing this week is putting the lid on and off of a water bottle. She will sit and do it over and over for hours.  So simple.  She definatly does not like to be held back from anything.  She knows what she wants and is determined to get it. If you try to persuade her differently she won't let up.  It may be stubborness but I think she is just saying " NO you won't hold me back,  I will conquer the world" . What a strong spirit she is.  I just love her soo much.

I love all my children and am so blessed to be a mother.  I just read a book called Kisses from Katie.  I highly Highly Highly recommend it.  I don't really want to get into the review of it right now.  Because I don't know really how to put it in words how it has changed my perception on Faith, and Devotion to our Savior.  It has really made me stop and look at my life and strive to live the life the lord wants me to live.  I am on a journey to find out what that is.  If you ask Karleigh what she wants to be when she grows up she will say a mom.  I love it, because growing up that is all I wanted to be as well.  As I look back at that I wonder why at times I never said I wanted to be a astronaut or doctor, or nurse.  I always wanted to be a mom.  To some that may seem not good enough.  But as my little girl says that she wants to be a mom when she grows up I think that is a very admirable thing to want.  It is making me look at the way I view motherhood and am I grateful for this blessing?  Do I see it as a blessing or a burden?  I am beginning to be in gratitude for this calling and realize that the lord has given me this time to serve him through them.  What a opportnity!

Happy Birthday to my "little" man....

Before you laugh at my make shift cake can you tell what it is?  Colton told me he wanted a dinosaur cake with strawberries as the spikes.  Yeah do you know me?  I don't make cakes.  I am the lady that pays people to make me lame cakes.  I told him that I would order him one for his friend party on Friday.  ( I really didn't want to pay for a cake this time) So as I am cutting up strawberries I thought I will attempt to make a dino shape.  I could tell it was a dino.  And Hooray for me he liked it too.  I got some laughs and jokes made but all in all I thought I did alright by a 6 year old's standards.

Colton turned 6.  I almost can't believe that more than Preston turning 8. But nonetheless he is 6!!! I can't stop it they just keep growing.

We went to Chuck a Rama for dinner.  Many may not like that place but as a mother of 4 kids all picky with their own idea of what is "good" food it is a place that pleases all.  Best of all I don't have to do the dishes.  After dinner we headed home for cake and presents.  Grandma Annie and Grandpa Wynn gave him Spiderman web shooter and mask.  He was soooo excited it was by far his favorite.  He got a lot of fun things.  After cake he got really quiet and his face got red and eyes glassy and he felt tired.  I took his temperature and he had a fever don't know what happened but we ended the party a little early and he went to bed.
The next day was Valentines day and I was so worried he was going to miss out on his first Valentine exchange in kindergarten but he woke up with no fever and feeling great.  So he didn't miss it after all.

Colton is the pure definition of "boy".  He is such a strong little boy!  He loves his dad and anything that has to do with what his dad is doing.
His best friend is Louie Nichols and they are together almost everyday.  Louie's family used to live right next door but they moved last May and we were so sad to see them go.  But it has not stopped them from being together every moment they can.   They have so much fun together.

She's ONE

Kambria turned one on Jan. 10.  I can't believe it has been a year.  Each kid goes faster and faster. I hate it. I have enjoyed every moment with her and am still enjoying all of it.

I love that she just adores her daddy and loves her mommy.  She loves books.  The only time I can get her to sit still is by reading and looking at books.  She is starting to say a few words.  she says ba bye while waving and says ai eee.  for her cousin Caileigh who she adores.  She was saying mamma and dadada but doesn't anymore. She loves music, and dancing.  She loves the song the wheels on the bus and has started singing round and round with the song.  She is so fun.  She has been walking since 10 months and is in to everything.

She has started crying when daddy leaves for work in the morning and doesn't like to be left home.  She loves the outdoors and when you let her outside she runs around like a free little puppy.  She keeps us all running.
