Avalanche Danger...

Every year Chad goes on the "Mancation".  It is a weekend where Chad and bunch of guys in the ward go snowmobiling.  There is usally about 10 or so that go.  This year there was only four of them going up on Thursday night and 2 other guys heading up Friday night.

Friday the guys headed out to enjoy some great snowmobiling. All was going great until Scott headed up the hill that Phil and Bryce had already rode up and down 3 times as Scott was headed up he hit the top and as he headed down the mountain broke loose and before they knew it they were all riding as fast as they could to get away from the avalanche.  Chad kept looking behind him watching Scott to see where he was.  Soon Scott was headed right for a tree so he jumped just as he jumped Chad lost him as the snow just buried him.  Chad was so scared just yelling The snow slowed down as Chad flipped around and headed back up the mt. To find Scott.  Phil and Bryce right after.  Chad saw a little tip of Scott's helmet and just began digging.  He cleared his face and is yelling at scott ot see if he is alright.  Scott is breathing and says that he thinks his leg is broke.  As Chad continues to dig he clears his right side and his leg is fine.  He begins to dig his left side out and his leg is broke.  Chad yells for phil to go get Search and Rescue so phil heads down to the trail head about a 30 min ride away.  As they wait Chad gets heat packs on him and covers him with his coat and the emergency blanket.  A man showed up on his sled and had a cell phone that had reception so they called 911 .  It took search and rescue and the Life Flight an hour and half to get there.  Then the Life Flight couldn't land except for near the bottom so Chad and search and Rescue and bryce and phil help carry Scott down on  the board.  They got him to the helicopter.
Scott is doing good he has a broken leg in 3 places and has a long recovery ahead of him as well as a broken arm. He is alive though and that is what counts.
Chad is being called a hero by everyone.  He is so uncomfortable with that.  He did what he had to do.  He has been trained in back country Emergency.  Since ran the Four Wheeling Rentals for a few years and done Snowmobile guiding as well.  he was prepared and has saved a few lives during four wheeling accidents and having people life flighted out but he says it is not the same when it is your friend and you are trying to save your life as well.
I am so Thankful and blessed Chad was not hurt and even more thankful that he was there to help.

The lord was definatly protecting our guys this year,  and we acknowledge his hand in all of this.
